Start With The Building, Not An Assumption
An asbestos question often arrives at an awkward moment. A purchase is progressing, maintenance is due or a contractor has found a material they cannot identify. Our approach starts with what you need to decide and the building information already available.
We discuss enquiries from facilities managers, landlords and contractors for commercial, industrial and public-sector premises in Bristol and nearby areas. The aim is an appropriate scope, understandable findings and a practical route forward. An enquiry can concern a single suspect material or a larger programme of building work.
The Standard Of Information Matters
Survey work should follow HSE guidance HSG264, Asbestos: The survey guide, with laboratory analysis undertaken under the appropriate accreditation. HSG248, Asbestos: The Analysts’ Guide, informs relevant analytical and clearance work. These references describe the work expected, rather than a claim that this website holds an accreditation.
Before appointing a firm, check its competence, relevant accreditation scope and any licence required for the work. Agree the inspection boundary, limitations, deliverables and cost in writing. A well-defined appointment helps you understand what the resulting report does and does not cover.
An Ongoing Duty Needs More Than A Report
The Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 provide the framework for assessing and controlling asbestos risks. In premises with a duty to manage, the survey is part of a wider system. The register, management plan and information given to contractors need to remain useful as the building changes.
A management plan should identify who acts on findings, how condition is monitored and what happens if a material is disturbed. If you need help interpreting existing information or organising the next inspection, describe that in your enquiry. Avoid booking a new survey solely because an earlier report is unfamiliar.
What Happens To Your Enquiry
The enquiry form asks for your agreement before your details may be shared with a suitable local firm. That firm can discuss the property, confirm the service scope and provide its own appointment terms. You decide whether to proceed with a quotation or booking.
Please share only the contact and property details needed to explain the work. Our privacy notice describes the enquiry process. If you are uncertain which service you need, choose “Not sure yet” and describe the situation in your own words.
